Professor Layton and the New World of Steam takes place one year after apprentice Luke Triton leaves for America (Unwound Future), although he later invites Layton to a place called Steam Bison within the country.

Steam engine technology here far surpasses London’s capabilities, but Luke tells Layton something bizarre has happened. As players solve puzzles throughout the game, the city is implied to develop as a result of their actions.

While Layton remains anonymous in America, Luke has solved various cases in the town and become known as Detective Luke. Yo Oizumi will return as Layton, and Mio Imada will be Luke’s new voice. QuizKnock will design the puzzles. This entry will have the most puzzles in the series’ history.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will be released for PlayStation 5, Steam, Switch, and Switch 2 on December 10, 2026.
