Yo-kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain Announced for Switch 2

LEVEL-5 has announced Yo-kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain, a remake of Nintendo 3DS RPG Yo-kai Watch 2 for Nintendo Switch 2. A short teaser trailer for Yo-kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain was revealed at the September 9 Nintendo Direct, along with a brief message from the development team on X (formerly Twitter). A release date was not announced. 

“We’re keeping everything that made Yo-kai Watch 2 so special while completely revamping the graphics!,” said LEVEL-5 on X. “We’re also hard at work developing new features, including additional story content and new Yo-kai!”

LEVEL-5 also announced that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will launch on December 10 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. 

Development of a Yo-kai Watch game was confirmed back in July 2023 to celebrate the launch of the Yokai Watch 10th anniversary website. LEVEL-5 CEO Akihiro Hino thanked fans for their continued support and said it was too soon for a reveal. 

The latest title in the long-running Yokai Watch series is Yokai Watch Jam: Yokai Academy Y – Waiwai Gakuen Seikatsu. Yokai Watch Jam: Yokai Academy Y – Waiwai Gakuen Seikatsu released on August 13, 2020 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan, and the game is not available in the west.
